Abstract : It was a groundbreaking insight of Gromov that regards finitely generated groups as geometric objects. Certain properties of negatively curved and non-positively curved Riemannian manifolds were treated as definitions for such geometries. Closely interacting with low-dimensional topology, geometric group theory has largely originated from this insight. |
